Late night on 6th Avenue

After the show we made a few stops in midtown.  Hudson Hotel where we pondered what it would be like to check into a hotel with two clubs adjacent to the lobby and Stone Rose where we caught up with old friends and made new ones, including a restaurant manager in San Fran which means the upcoming trip is going to be even better than anticipated!  After an extended stay in Stone Rose, we were famished when it was time to leave.  It was a battle between pizza and chicken & rice.  Since there was no pizza immediately available, we walked to 53rd and 6th the site of the famous Chicken & Rice cart.  We waited in line for approximately 10 minutes.  I ordered chicken & rice with hot sauce.  Mr. G, Mr. K and Ms. S all ordered the chicken and lamb combo.

We caught a cab back to my place and although we were all exhausted, we devoured the chicken and rice.  As you can see, I started eating before I remembered to take a picture.  In actuality, it doesn't really live up to the hype.  I mean it hit the spot at 3 in the morning, but the chicken was pretty dry.  It was only seasoned with salt and pepper.  The hot sauce was the difference maker.  In truth, some of the daytime carts serve better meals than this one, but it's all about being in the right place at the right time.

  1. I agree, somehow the spicy sauce and strange white ranch sauce made it delicious, plus the fact that it was the middle of the night.
